Drawing is the basis of design. Learning shading through shapes, understanding color, perception, attention to detail, and composition can only be taught through drawing in my opinion. That is where I started, it wasn't until I drew the human figure that I really began to think about shape and realistic points of view. Here is one of my studies. The first is a pencil drawing and the second is a silkscreen related to the drawing.
