I finally finished my first watercolor that I started to work on over the holiday break. A little procrastination and some other projects got pushed up in front of this, but I am happy that it is finished. I still have a lot to learn and different styles to explore, but this was a good way to get started. I look forward to my next watercolor challenge, I'm sure it will be part of the bird series. Come back to see and I would love to hear any comments that you might have.

Wishing you a Happy New Year with my second stage of my hummingbird
Ahhh, it's bitter sweet, this is the last post of 2009. And what better way to say hello to 2010 then with another post of my watercolor painting progress. This will be one of my New Year's resolutions...to paint and draw more. What are your resolutions? Will you be doing anything exciting in 2010? One trip that I have planned is visiting Japan for 2 weeks with my husband. I am completely looking forward to the pictures and creative inspiration that I will gain from this trip in the Spring. Thank you all for following my posts and reading along with me. Many of you have contributed to my passion of design and I appreciate your support very much. I also want to thank all of you in the art field that have been posting blogs that have always inspired me, it's nice to know that there is a community out there who share the same interests.
Happy New Year Everyone!!

Humming Bird Painting Stage 1

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I had the best time with my family and being together. It is a memory I will always cherish. I went out yesterday and picked up my supplies to start creating the hummingbird painting that I promised you a couple weeks ago. So I started on it today and this is how far I have gotten so far. I am having a lot of fun and am surprised how relaxing painting is. I am just trying to get the colors down on the paper and then I can work on the details. I can't wait for the end result since this is my first watercolor since maybe I was in grade school. Keep coming back to see my progress, I would love to read your comments.

Next Drawing Challenge
I guess I am interested in birds. I haven't played around with drawing on paper except for doodling since my last Pelican drawing. Since I have a week off of my day job between Christmas and New Years this hummingbird that I shot on camera will be my first of the year drawing challenge. I may begin to use watercolor on this one. I don't want to waste all of those beautiful colors on grayscale. Come back as I will be updating my progress. I can't wait to start.

The Art of Catalin Bridinel
I want to introduce you to the amazing watercolor/ink paintings of Catalin Bridinel. The colors that she uses and the details of the ink drawing come together beautifully. It's hard to believe that she has only started experimenting with watercolor this year.
